Environment

Landscape, culture, sports and resting are four main attractions at the Valley of Boí.

The landscapes of the Aigüestortes National Park

With a total area of 40,852 hectares covering four counties Pyreneen, the park is an interesting example of the action of Quaternary glaciers on granite and slate. The landscape is outstanding for the presence of valleys in the form of "U" and hundreds of lakes, which makes this the most important lake area in the Pyrenees.

We can not forget the variety of flora and fauna. Visiting the Park is advisable to walk through crossings.

We highlight several walks such as La Ribera de Sant Nicolau, Els estanys de Llebreta, Cavallers, Negre and Les Llastres de la Morta.

By taking the Cavallers dam you can access an area of natural lakes. We highlight the Comaloforno peak (3033 m) and Besiberri (3030) as well as the mountains of Tumeneia, Estanys Gelats, Punta Alta and Gran Tuc de Colomers at 2933m, without forgetting the refuge Ventosa i Calvell. Anyway, the visit to the park can also be performed using all-terrain vehicles which can be hired in Boí's town square. This is a convenient and less daunting alternative. Remember that Aigüestortes National Park has two entrances, one at the Valley of Boi, the other in the area of Espot, on the Pallars Sobirà.

Romanesque culture.

La Vall de Boi provides one of the world's most important Romanesque churches.

These are buildings that were built during the XI, XII and XIII centuries with artistic styles from the north of Italy, also known as Lombard Romanesque. In addition, the high towers feature the paintings of the churches of Santa Maria and Sant Climent de Taull. The proof of the cultural importance of these churches is that UNESCO recently granted the title of World Heritage.

To hire guided tours in all the Romanesque churches of the Valley you can approach the Interpretation Center of Romanesque in Erill la Vall where you will also learn about other cultural and anthropological aspects of the area.

Skiing and adventure sports

The Boí Taull Resort is a winter resort that offers a ski resort as the main attractive. In spring you can enjoy other sports such as rafting, canyoning, hidroospeed, Kayak ...

But the Boi Valley offers many alternatives to adventure sports: rafting the river Noguera Ribagorçana and canyoning. Canoeing enthusiasts can head for the Escales reservoir, near the town of El Pont de Suert. Horse-riding is another option that we can practice in the municipality of Barruera.

Caldes de Boi spa

Place to find the desired rest. This includes 37 thermal spa water fountains at high temperatures.

The Rantiner hotel recommends other cultural activity such as the 'Falles' of Taüll held the third Friday of July. It's then when the 'fallaires' climb what is known as 'Faro' (pyramidal form with trees). Once the Faro is on fire the downhill walk toward Taull begins.

This is also celebrated in the other villages of the area.

'Festa major':

Taull's main festivities are celebrated on the 3rd weekend in July.

On Friday from 11 at night the downhill walk of 'Falles' and 'Rantiners' is done. The torches made of one piece of black pine with which the walk is done are called 'rantiners'. Hence the name of our hotel.
